Consider fellow-level AMA membership
LETTER — Posted Feb. 7, 2005
Regarding "AMA announces new membership strategy" (Article, Jan. 5): Your article states that "[membership] loss is driven more by members who do not renew than by a decline in newcomers."
May I suggest that AMA recognize members with five or more years of continuous membership with a "fellow" status, i.e., Fellow of the American Medical Association (FAMA). Fellows then will have to remain members in good standing or else they will lose their "fellow" status.
