Medem, Allscripts offer free technology to Katrina evacuees

Medem Inc. is offering free online personal health records to those who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Also, Allscripts LLC is giving electronic prescribing software systems to doctors treating evacuees.
San Francisco-based Medem, which offers online consultation, Web site hosting and online health content services to physicians, is partly owned by the American Medical Association. Allscripts, based in Chicago, sells electronic medical records software.
