United lets healthy pay less
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted Aug. 6, 2007
UnitedHealthcare recently introduced a plan that rewards people for healthy lifestyles. Under the new Vital Measures plan, United lowers deductibles and reduces out-of-pocket expenses if members don't smoke, and maintain good body mass index, blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
The plan applies to members enrolled in United's high-deductible plan. Employers with 100 to 1,000 fully insured employees in Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Colorado and Ohio can currently offer the plan. It will be available nationally in 2008.
