Aetna lays off 200 employees
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted Dec. 6, 2010
Citing the loss of half a million members this year and an expected 550,000 to 600,000 in early 2011, Aetna laid off 200 employees in November.
The employees represent a small fraction of the health plan's work force, spokesman Alfred Laberge said.
Aetna had about 18.5 million members as of Sept. 30 and reported $497.6 million in net earnings for the third quarter of the year.
