United gives $700,000 to California telemedicine group
Posted April 23, 2012
UnitedHealthcare has donated $700,000 to the California Telehealth Network to help expand telehealth programs and training for underserved rural hospitals and health clinics in California.
Eric Brown, president and CEO of CTN, said the grant will enable the organization to expand beyond broadband services to provide technical and operational support throughout the state. He said less than 20% of clinics and hospitals in the telehealth network have on-site information technology expertise. The grant will help bring information technology support to more of the sites.
This is the second grant UnitedHealthcare has awarded CTN. It gave $600,000 in 2010 to help launch CTN.
