Exercise and weight control help cancer survivors avoid recurrence

Keeping a healthy weight and staying physically active can reduce the risk of having cancer return, say new guidelines from the American Cancer Society.
Research has shown that lack of exercise, poor nutrition and excess weight can increase the risk of recurrence for many cancers, the society said. For the guidelines, experts in nutrition, physical activity and cancer survival evaluated scientific evidence and best clinical practices related to optimal nutrition and physical activity after a cancer diagnosis. The recommendations were published online April 26 in CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians (link).
