A legacy of lost objects -- and saved lives
Chevalier Jackson, MD, a physician and artist, routinely made charcoal sketches of what he saw through his medical instruments. He also painted portraits and landscapes in oil paint. "He was an extremely talented artist," said Anna Dhody, curator of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia's Mütter Museum. The summer kitchen of his home at Old Sunrise Mills near Philadelphia became one of the artist's studios.
