Oklahoma group marks 100 years
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted May 1, 2006
The Oklahoma State Medical Assn. will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a Centennial Gala on May 5 at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
The association was started in 1906, a year before Oklahoma became a state, and today has about 5,000 members, officials said. Several activities have been held during the past year to mark the anniversary, including taking part in Septemberfest at the governor's mansion.
The Centennial Gala will be the highlight of the celebrations. The OSMA will install its 101st president, David Russell, MD, of Enid. AMA President J. Edward Hill, MD, is scheduled to attend.
