Illinois fines Humana for Medicare health plan enrollment practices
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted Feb. 4, 2008
The Illinois Dept. of Financial and Professional Regulation/Division of Insurance announced Jan. 16 that it has fined Humana Insurance Co. $500,000 for using unlicensed agents to sell Medicare insurance policies. Humana also failed to notify the state that it had fired two agents for cause, the agency stated. The division conducted an examination of the company after receiving complaints about Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D enrollment practices. Humana agreed to the fine to settle the complaints but denied any wrongdoing.
