Big Calif. IPA reports gain

Hill Physicians Medical Group, one of California's largest independent practice associations, reported net income of $5.6 million and revenue of $290.5 million in 2003, compared with a loss of $934,000 and revenue of $273.6 million for 2002.
The group, which includes a network of more than 2,100 physicians, also announced that it had distributed $12 million in bonuses to physicians last year. The group reported that about $5.6 million of that money had come from participation in California's Pay for Performance initiative.
