NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted July 5, 2004
Medical students and residents will have a little more to cover if training programs respond to proposals from the AMA. The AMA recently adopted a policy urging medical schools and residency programs to educate students and new physicians on the ins and outs of managed care, including the structure and financing of the health care system.
New AMA policy also encourages medical schools and residency programs to educate students and young doctors on the impact of pharmaceutical advertising and gifts and visits with pharmaceutical sales representatives on physician prescribing.
