Making clinical trial data more available
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted Dec. 27, 2004
American Medical Association leaders will ask the drug industry to work with them to develop guidelines that would end the use of restrictive covenants and clauses in agreements between pharmaceutical companies and physician researchers.
The AMA also will work to protect the rights of physician researchers to present, publish and distribute data from clinical trials.
Doctors gathered at the AMA's Interim Meeting in Atlanta in December called for the dialogue and improvements because they believe the current system interferes with how scientific data from clinical trials are disseminated.
