Standards groups pledge compatibility

SNOMED International and Health Level Seven have signed an agreement under which they will collaborate to make their clinical health care standards compatible with each other to improve interoperability between systems. SNOMED International, Northfield, Ill., is the publisher of SNOMED, a clinical vocabulary. HL7, an Ann Arbor, Mich.-based standards development organization, creates clinical messaging standards.
