AHIMA seeks standard health record
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted Aug. 15, 2005
Seeking to spur adoption of personal health records, the American Health Information Management Assn. on July 25 issued a report recommending a standard definition for a personal health record, and what data elements it should have to support compatibility between different information systems.
The report defines a personal health record as an electronic, universally available, lifelong resource of health information maintained and owned by a patient. It can be accessed at AHIMA's Web site (link).
