TennCare coverage restarted
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted Jan. 29, 2007
Almost two years after freezing it, Tennessee will reopen enrollment in February for a program providing health care for low-income residents.
TennCare, the state's Medicaid program, will provide a year of coverage to people who are older than 65, blind, disabled or a caretaker relative of a child in TennCare. Enrollees must have medical bills that, when subtracted from their incomes, would allow them to qualify for Medicaid, according to TennCare spokeswoman Marilyn Wilson. The program will have an enrollment cap of 100,000.
