Obama joins presidential candidates calling for universal care
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted Feb. 12, 2007
Sen. Barack Obama (D, Ill.) pledged to work toward universal health care for all Americans by the end of the next president's first term.
"Affordable, universal health care for every single American must not be a question of whether, it must be a question of how," Obama said Jan. 26. "This isn't a problem of money. It's a problem of will, of leadership."
Obama is considering running to be the Democratic nominee for president in 2008. Declared candidates include former Sen. John Edwards (N.C.), Sen. Hillary Clinton (N.Y.) and Rep. Dennis Kucinich (Ohio), all of whom support universal health care.
