CCHIT certifies more EMRs
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted Feb. 19, 2007
The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology has certified 18 ambulatory electronic medical records products, boosting the number of certified EMRs to date to 55. That represents approximately 25% of the EMRs in the market, according to the commission. To earn CCHIT certification, the products must meet certain 2006 criteria for functionality, interoperability and security.
The commission, which is accepting public comment through Feb. 28 for 2007 certification criteria, says it will announce certification criteria for inpatient EMRs in the summer.
