Medication disposal tips

The American Pharmacists Assn. recently advised certain steps for disposing of unneeded and expired medications to avoid harm to people, communities and the environment.
The group advises that medicines in general not be flushed down the drain because of harm they could cause to the environment. But flushing may be considered if a drug holds high potential for abuse.
When tossing unused medicine in the trash, the association offers the following precautionary steps to protect children and pets:
