Rhyming pay-for-performance plea
LETTER — Posted May 7, 2007
Regarding "Pay-for-performance: It's about cost control, not quality" (Column, Feb. 19): The following doggerel is my response to the commentary by AMA President William G. Plested III, MD, on pay-for-performance.
P4P is just the latest managed care wrinkle designed to cut costs, not improve quality. It would hurt physicians and confuse patients. Why any sane physician would belong to such plans is beyond me, too.
P4P
Is not for me.
Y O Y
Would doctors buy
This latest, low-blow
HMO?
In great distress
I SOS
The AMA:
Please, make it go away.
John C. Markowitz, MD, New York
