Bipartisan SCHIP bill introduced in Senate
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted May 14, 2007
Six million additional children would receive health coverage in the next decade, and states would be allowed to cover children in families earning up to 300% of the federal poverty level under the Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2007, introduced late last month by Sens. Jay Rockefeller (D, W.Va.) and Olympia Snowe (R, Maine).
The bill also would allow states to enroll children who qualify for other means-tested programs in the State Children's Health Insurance Program, and it would guarantee dental and mental health coverage for low-income children.
