CCHIT expands reach
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted July 16, 2007
The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology, which has certified ambulatory electronic medical record systems, has announced that it published its approved criteria for certification of inpatient systems.
Chicago-based CCHIT said it would begin taking applications for certification Aug. 1. The first certified inpatient EMRs are expected to be announced in late October.
The organization, which has a three-year contract from the Dept. of Health and Human Services to develop certification criteria and approve systems, also has begun announcing what ambulatory systems have been approved under updated 2007 criteria. The list of systems is available at the organization's Web site (link).
