AOA names new president

The American Osteopathic Assn. last month installed orthopedic surgeon Peter B. Ajluni, DO, as its 2007-08 president, succeeding John A. Strosnider, DO, of Pikeville, Ky., who died of pancreatic cancer June 21.
In his role as president, Dr. Ajluni, of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., wants to convey the importance of osteopathic physicians serving as role models on health and fitness for patients. He also will focus on making the AOA a healthier and more fit organization and improving the U.S. health care system.
Dr. Ajluni began his career on the AOA Board of Trustees in 1998 and was a member of the AOA's Executive Committee from 2000-05. He served as chair of the AOA Departments of Business Affairs, Educational Affairs, Professional Affairs and Governmental Affairs.
He was president of the Michigan Osteopathic Assn. and the Michigan Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
