Groups form prescribing think tank to promote safety and improve drug use
Posted Sept. 10, 2007
Organizations representing technology, insurance, pharmacy and physicians have founded an effort to study how to improve prescription drug management.
The Washington-based Center for Improving Medication Management launched in mid-August.
Its founding backers are Intel, Humana, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Assn., Surescripts, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Medical Group Management Assn.
Much of the focus of the center, its founders said, will be on ways to use technology to link physicians, patients and pharmacies so that medication safety and use may be improved.
