Blues settlement deadline is approaching

Physicians eligible for a payout from a $130 million class-action settlement with Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans across the country must file their claims by Oct. 19.
To assist doctors, the American Medical Association created a map that identifies which Blues settled allegations of improper payment practices in Love et al. v. Blue Cross and Blue Shield Assn. et al. Doctors can view the map, along with AMA guidelines on how to recover money from the settlement fund, online (link).
In May a federal judge preliminarily approved the agreement, which also includes a host of changes to the Blues' business practices. A final hearing is set for Nov. 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida in Miami.
