Army increases medical scholarship stipends
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted Oct. 15, 2007
The Army's F. Edward Hebert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program is offering medical students monthly stipends of $1,605, up from $1,300.
The living expense stipend is just one portion of the scholarship, which covers tuition, books and nearly all school-related costs. Participants spend six weeks a year in hands-on military training.
After medical school, graduates are commissioned as officers and do residencies at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Brooke Army Medical Center or Fort Sam Houston, both in San Antonio. More information is available online, in pdf (link).
