Ga. offers RHIO grants
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted Nov. 26, 2007
The Georgia Dept. of Community Health has given four organizations a total of $853,088 in grant money to develop a statewide health information exchange in the next two years.
Chatham County Safety Net Planning Council; the Sumter Regional Hospital; the East Georgia Healthcare Center, Swainsboro; and the Washington County Regional Medical Center will share the grant money to develop a system that will include electronic medical records as well as ePrescribing.
Georgia joins several states attempting to implement statewide data exchanges as part of an effort to establish a national data exchange by 2014. Several other projects have failed in recent months due to the lack of a sustainable funding model.
