Pou case prosecutor loses election
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted Nov. 26, 2007
Louisiana Attorney General Charles C. Foti Jr., who accused a New Orleans physician and two nurses of conspiring to murder four hospital patients in the chaotic aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, did not qualify for a November runoff bid to keep his job. Foti finished last in a three-way race. Local observers said Foti's campaign was badly hurt by his high-profile pursuit of Anna Maria Pou, MD, and nurses Cheri Landry and Lori Budo. A grand jury refused to file charges against the three.
