Fla. area gets tech grant

The Tampa-St. Petersburg, Fla., area won a $3 million grant for health care technology, beating out more than 90 other communities who applied for the Center for Community Health Leadership grant.
The organization is sponsored by Misys Healthcare System and will provide $3 million for electronic health record software.
Implementation of the software is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2008.
Tampa Bay was chosen because of its commitment to community data sharing and its reputation for health care excellence, according to a statement released by Misys. The Tampa Bay area is home to more than 3 million people.
