Study says contracts best solution to avoid liability squabbles

Physicians and patients would be better off resolving medical liability disputes through voluntary contracts instead of the courts, a recent study said.
The contract system would reduce the high cost of litigation for both sides, keep doctors' medical liability insurance premiums down and discourage medical errors, according to a December 2007 report by the National Center for Policy Analysis, a nonpartisan research organization that supports tort reform.
