Mayors embrace single-payer system

The U.S. Conference of Mayors on June 23 adopted a resolution supporting a congressional bill that would create a single-payer health care system. The U.S. National Health Insurance Act, sponsored by Rep. John Conyers (D, Mich.), would expand health coverage to all Americans by making the federal government the sole third-party payer.
