EMR user certification offered
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted Nov. 10, 2008
There are certifications for electronic medical record systems. And now there will be a certification for their use.
The American Medical Informatics Assn. and the American Health Information Management Assn. have teamed to offer training and testing programs to earn a Digital Patient Record Certification, or DPRC designation, for the use of EMRs.
The course is designed for physicians or their staff to learn how to best use an EMR. Course material will include the entry, retrieval and use of digital data.
AMIA has launched the "Study Guide for Current and Future Healthcare Workers," which can be used in conjunction with the course or to prepare for the certification exam. It contains learning objectives, an overview of knowledge areas and sample exam questions.
