Texas board announces new leaders
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted March 16, 2009
The Texas Medical Board in February named Mari Robinson as executive director and Alan T. Moore, MD, as medical director.
Robinson had served as interim executive director since October 2008, the same month Dr. Moore began serving as interim medical director. The effective start date for both in their new positions was March 1. State law requires that a medical director be hired if the agency executive is a nonphysician.
Robinson replaces Donald W. Patrick, MD, who retired after serving as executive director from September 2001 to August 2008. Robinson began at the board as a litigation attorney in 2001 and served as director of enforcement. Dr. Moore, who is board certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology and hematopathology, has practiced in Austin for more than 20 years.
