Vt. Blues interim CEO made permanent

Don George, who has held the top executive position at BlueCross and BlueShield of Vermont on an interim basis since November 2008, will be the permanent president and CEO of the plan and its affiliated HMO, The Vermont Health Plan. The plan's board of directors announced his permanent appointment March 2.
George has worked for the Vermont Blues since 1993. He was previously vice president of the company's managed health systems division, which made him responsible for the plan's relationships with hospitals, physicians and other health care professionals.
The state's Blues plan covers more than 180,000 state residents.
