New tools for cancer survivors

An online tool to provide cancer patients and their family members with a road map for health management as they transition to life as a cancer survivor received high marks from users, according to a study presented April 19 at the American Assn. for Cancer Research's annual meeting in Denver.
Nearly all of the people who used OncoLife, which was developed by physicians and nurses at the University of Pennsylvania's Abramson Cancer Center, rated their experience as good to excellent, said the researchers, who were also from the university.
"This tool empowers patients to open an important dialogue with their health care providers to better understand the effects of their cancer treatments," said James Metz, MD, an associate professor of radiation oncology. The tool is available online (link).
