Progressives outline $82 million health reform campaign
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted June 8, 2009
A number of Democratic organizations announced June 1 they will spend $82 million on an advertising and grassroots organizing campaign to achieve health system reform this year.
The effort will involve several groups, including Moveon.org, the AFL-CIO, Democracy for America and the Health Care For America Now campaign, which launched last summer. "We knew we couldn't win health care reform in 2008, but we knew we could lose it if we didn't lay the groundwork for the very moment we're in right now," said Richard Kirsch, Health Care for America Now's national campaign manager.
