MGMA posts business tips for doctors
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted July 20, 2009
The Medical Group Management Assn. released July 6 the first of a series of tools designed to boost the business acumen of solo physicians and others running small practices.
"Lessons for Financial Success" was funded by the United Health Foundation and is available online (link).
"MGMA has organized state-of-the-art information, knowledge and tools that will assist physicians in improving their practice efficiency and work flow," said Reed Tuckson, MD, the foundation's executive vice president.
The first chapter focuses on developing benchmark statistics for number of patients, satisfaction with care, revenue, expenses and other factors that can determine where a business stands and where it needs to go.
Subsequent chapters to be released over the next few months will focus on maintaining patient safety, managing accounts receivable and containing costs.
