AHRQ to issue grants for patient-centered medical homes
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted Aug. 24, 2009
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality on Aug. 13 announced a new grant funding opportunity to help validate the quality of care administered through the patient-centered medical home model.
AHRQ said it is interested in research that will identify, describe and disseminate the best methods for transforming primary care so practices can improve quality, reduce costs, and better satisfy the needs of patients and families. The research also will test the patient-centered medical home impact in terms of quality measures, costs of care, and patient and physician satisfaction.
A total of $3.2 million will be available annually to support grant projects. AHRQ anticipates issuing 10 to 12 awards, though that could change depending on the size of each award and available funding. The application due date for the grant is Nov. 18.
