Health info group awarded money to help build national health information exchange

The American Health Information Management Assn. was awarded $1.2 million to continue its work on developing a national health information exchange.
The grant was awarded to the Chicago-based group by the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. It will directly support AHIMA's State-level Health Information Exchange Consensus Project, which was developed to actively assist states with their role in developing a national HIE.
