Web site aims to standardize newborn screenings
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted Sept. 28, 2009
The National Library of Medicine has launched a Web site, the Newborn Screening Coding and Terminology Guide, to help states standardize how screenings are conducted and recorded. It says standardization also will help enable screening data to be included in electronic medical records.
The site will also include a list of conditions for which physicians should screen newborns, provided by the Advisory Committee on Heritable Disorders in Newborns and Children and state health departments. Links to related information will also be provided (link).
