N.D. Blues plan settles marketing, contracting violation claims
Posted Oct. 19, 2009
North Dakota's BlueCross BlueShield-affiliated plan agreed to pay $30,000 to settle the state insurance department's allegations that the company violated state law.
The insurer signed a settlement agreement Sept. 10 but did not admit any wrongdoing.
The insurance department found that one of the company's brochures overstated the amount of every premium dollar it spends on health care, that the company failed to submit its network physician contracts to the state as required by law, and that the company's agreements with network doctors didn't include some features required by law.
