Medicare Part D earns strong marks from seniors in survey
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted Nov. 23, 2009
A large majority of seniors, 88%, approve of their Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage, according to survey findings released Nov. 12 by the Medicare Today Coalition. The coalition is a program launched by the Healthcare Leadership Council, a group of chief executives of hospitals, health plans, drug companies, medical device firms and other industry members. The approval rate is an improvement over the 78% who said they were satisfied in early 2006.
The survey, conducted Oct. 16-25 by KRC Research, also found that nearly 75% of seniors support price reductions on brand-name drugs for Part D beneficiaries in the "doughnut hole" coverage gap.
More than two out of three seniors say they are "better off" with Medicare Part D.
The survey, which had 945 participants, is available online (link).
