Humana makes public its tool for tracking Twitter comments
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted Jan. 4, 2010
Software engineers working for Louisville, Ky.-based health plan Humana developed a way to track what people were saying about the company on the micro-blogging site Twitter, and to see where, geographically, the conversations were happening. Now that tool is available to anyone who wants to track discussion of a topic, person or entity.
Humana's Tweet Positioning System, or TPS, is a "mashup" of Twitter and Google Maps.
Greg Matthews, a director in Humana's Innovation Center, said in a news release that the company quickly realized the program might have applications beyond Humana and decided to release it to the public.
The free tool is available online (link).
