Humana to cut 5% of jobs

Louisville, Ky.-based Humana will trim its work force by about 5% in 2010, eliminating 2,500 jobs even as it adds 1,100 positions in "areas of growth," identified as "medical cost-containment," "pharmacy management" and "specialty products."
Humana has more than 10 million members. More than half are Medicaid, Medicare or Tricare enrollees.
The company announced the layoffs Feb. 17.
