ACP names new leader

The American College of Physicians has named Steven E. Weinberger, MD, as its executive vice president and chief executive officer. Dr. Weinberger will start July 19 and oversee ACP medical education and publishing, membership services, business development, and public policy.
Dr. Weinberger, an internist and pulmonologist, has been ACP's deputy executive vice president since 2009 and senior vice president for medical education and publishing since 2004. He also has been a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and executive vice chair of the Dept. of Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
Dr. Weinberger succeeds John Tooker, MD, who announced his departure in October 2009.
