Ingenix to acquire medical software company
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted Aug. 9, 2010
UnitedHealth Group subsidiary Ingenix plans to buy the maker of software used in hundreds of hospital emergency departments, intensive care units and surgical suites.
Ingenix announced July 22 that it would purchase Picis, a Wakefield, Mass.-based company that helps physicians and hospital managers share clinical, financial and administrative information, according to a news release from Ingenix.
Ingenix consults with and works for thousands of hospitals, and the Picis purchase is meant to add to Ingenix' offerings in those areas. The company will push those products as hospitals look to invest in health information technology, the release said.
