Pay of health company CEOs tops compensation in other industries

Chief executive officers of health care companies, including health insurance companies, have the highest median compensation of any industry, according to a survey published Nov. 16 in The Wall Street Journal.
Health care CEOs beat out top executives in consumer goods, telecommunications, and the oil and gas industry with a median pay package of $10 million, according to the survey conducted by the Hay Group and based on company filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The health care industry category included pharmaceutical companies, hospital chains and health insurance companies.
