Kaiser revenue rose, income flattened in 2011

Kaiser Permanente earned $2 billion on $47.9 billion in operating revenue for 2011. The organization had earned $2 billion net income on $44.2 billion in operating revenue in 2010.
The company's nonoperating income (typically including investment income or other one-time incomes) was down in 2011, at $426 million from $789 million in 2010, according to selected financial results the company released Feb. 10.
Kaiser had about 8.9 million members at the end of 2011. Membership grew by about 249,000 in 2011, the company said.
Kaiser reported spending $1.8 billion in 2011 on programs to benefit communities in which it operates.
