Health care expected to drive latest mobile networks
Posted April 2, 2012
Executives in the mobile technology industry see the biggest growth in the latest generation of mobile-phone networks and services coming from health care, according to a survey by Deloitte.
Deloitte surveyed 250 senior executives who worked for mobile device manufacturers, mobile network operators. software application developers and other mobile technology companies. It found that 78% view health care as the most promising growth area for 4G services, followed by retail and the financial services industry. The report says mounting pressure to reduce health care costs as well as an aging population and chronic disease management are among the driving forces behind the uptick in mobile device use in health care.
