Website highlights health IT progress
NEWS IN BRIEF — Posted Sept. 24, 2012
The Health and Human Services Dept. Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology has launched a dashboard to track health technology progress made across the country as a result of the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act of 2009.
The Health IT Dashboard offers a variety of data sets related to the spending of funds made available by HITECH (link).
The Web-based tool includes interactive maps that enable state-by-state comparisons in adoption of electronic health records and health information exchanges, use of e-prescribing and milestones made by regional extension centers and health IT work force development programs, among other things.
“Our ONC stakeholders and the interested public now have a more comprehensive picture of the ways in which ONC programs and research are contributing to the widespread adoption and meaningful use of health IT,” said Victor T. Lazzaro, ONC’s director for the health IT dashboards projects.
