Washington -- The federal government has set up one-stop online shopping for federal grants approved as part of the most recent federal stimulus act, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced Aug. 3.
HHS manages the Web site, which aims to be the primary source for grant information for all government agencies (link).
The site contains information on applying for more than $500 billion worth of federal funding each year through 1,000 separate programs offered by 26 federal agencies.
A new feature on the Web site will help individuals and groups apply for funding authorized earlier this year by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The act included billions in new grant money, including new opportunities from the National Institutes of Health and the Health Resources and Services Administration.
In future years, stimulus money will reward physicians and hospitals that adopt and use approved electronic health record systems.
"Many agencies and departments across government are working together to bring this information to the public," Sebelius said in a statement. "Now we are making it easier for individuals to find critical and time-sensitive recovery act grants from all over government on the grants.gov page with new technical improvements to the site and an aggressive outreach campaign to the public."
The new section of the site outlining the stimulus opportunities also includes links to other White House information on the recovery act (link). The Obama administration is holding a series of online seminars on how to apply for the federal dollars that also will be available through the grant site.
